FAQ's

Q – I am single. Can I still foster?
A – Yes you can. You do not need to be part of a couple to foster. We have a number of approved single foster carers. We will look at your other support networks when considering you.

Q - I am in full time work. Will fostering be a viable alternative to employment?
A – It could be. There are generous fees for foster placements and the income tax regime means that in some cases, most of your fostering income will not be taxed.

Q – I still have my own children at home. Will this exclude me from fostering?
A – No, we just need to be more careful in making sure any foster child matches your own children. You will, however, need a spare bedroom for any foster child as they cannot usually share a bedroom with anyone else.

Q – I am still undecided about whether to take up fostering. What should I do.

A – Carefully consult with all members of your household – the decision should be a shared one. If you are in any doubt, then call us. We will take you through all the issues (positive and negative) and leave the final decision completely up to you.
