Jay Fostering Rainbow Wall of Wishes

Jay Fostering now has a very colourful Rainbow Wall of Wishes. Our aim is to give children and young people a voice, through encouraging them to write a wish, message, aspiration, thought or idea on a rain drop or cloud - which is then added to the Rainhbow Wall.  Anyone that visits Jay Fostering is also invited to add to our growing collection.
We have some lovely wishes so far ranging from "I wish to live with mummy and daddy" up to the more unusal of "I wish for a lifetime supply of fresh garden peas".

Halloween day: Thursday 25th October

Jay Fostering organised a Halloween fun event for both birth and looked after children at their offices. The aim was to give the 10 children and young people aged 6-16 an opportunity to express themselves creatively and have fun.
The event went really well from the time the children and young people were dropped off by their carers/parents (who all took the opportunity for a well earned break!) until they were all picked up smiling 3 hours later.
It all started with the children and young people designing their own name badges, as well as some for the helpers too. Even though there was a large age difference everyone worked really well together; a particular highlight was a little witch who brought her broomstick with her and the older teenagers who helped the younger children get stuck in.
First up on the grizzly menu were some very impressive frozen yoghurt eye balls, which tasted as good as they sound (especially when too much lime is added!). Work then began on carving out pumpkins, with the children and young people producing some amazing creations. When the lights were switched off we were able to see the eerie effects of their efforts when the glow sticks shone through their carving. Inspired by this everyone then produced some amazing spider mobiles all played out with a suitable Halloween soundtrack in the background! (Everyone must enjoy the theme tune to Ghostbusters!).
Following a big lunch (including toffee apples), which was very well deserved everyone participating in the event wrote a wish, message or dream on Jay’s new "Rainbow Wall of Wishes". There are some great quotes from a child who wants to live with mummy and daddy to the strange request for garden peas.
Those children and young people who attended said of the day:
"I have never done anything with a pumpkin before like cutting, drawing it was great fun"
"The eyeballs look really spooky"
I can't wait for another day like today"
"I've had a great time today"
"My favourite bit was the pulling out the insides of the pumpkin"

Jay Fostering Colouring Competition
Party in the Park for Foster Carers in and around Nottingham
On 1st August 2012 Nottingham Support Group held a Summer Event - Party in the Park.
The event was held in the grounds of Wollaton Hall and Deer Park which provided a wonderful backdrop for the day's activities. There had been some doubts as to whether the event would be rained off. Fortunately for us there was some sunshine with gentle breeze which proved ideal conditions for the children to run around and let off steam.
The event was enjoyed by all; the children played games such as hook-a-duck, ring-toss, buzz off and connect 4.
One of our Foster Carers took time to send us a lovely e-mail following the event.
"Thank you for a lovely day, we really enjoyed seeing everyone. The food was lovely too."
